For those that have memory loss, curing the disease is not something we can offer at Azura. However, what we can do is help them and their families RECOVER from the stigma that life ends with the diagnosis of dementia.
Through our partnership with Second Wind Dreams, we have the ability to make dreams come true for our residents through the MOSAIC Dreams by Azura program. Our Team talks with our residents and asks them what their “best day” would be.
For Gracia, a resident of Azura Memory Care, her dream was to return to the classroom. Gracia was a substitute teacher and served on the School board for more than 20 years. Anytime Gracia was asked what her dream would be, she continually responded that she wanted to work with kids again and go back to the classroom.
Working with the local school district, Gracia was able to go back to the classroom where she listened to the children perform, read them a story and helped them decorate cookies to celebrate the day. However, the part that truly made this dream special was when every child gave Gracia a handshake or a hug of thanks. In doing so, Gracia knew she was still making a difference in lives of children…her true dream come true!
A huge thank you to WEAU TV 13 for helping us capture this beautiful moment!
