This simple wished sentiment by Frank Borg, a resident of our Azura Memory Care of Eau Claire family led our MOSAIC Dreams squad to jump into action to make it come true. In a few short days, thanks to the support of the local community, Frank and his blushing bride Sue renewed their vows of nearly 55 years in front of friends and family.
In planning the wedding the MOSAIC Dreams squad learned from Frank that Sue wore blue, had blue carnations in her bouquet and they ate Angel Food cake, made by her mother. In an effort to recreate this special memory Azura worked with local florist Brent Douglas Flower to ensure the blooms were in order, Sue Deluxe Bake Shop provided a delicious Angel Food wedding cake and Sue made sure she wore blue. In addition, Frank’s music therapist from St. Croix Hospice provided the music for the ceremony, which was held at Trinity Lutheran Church where Frank and Sue currently attend.
Unlike Sue and Frank’s first wedding, this one was even more special because their two children were able to be present and serve as witness. There wasn’t a dry eye in the chapel as Sue and Frank exchanged vows, rings and their children lit the unity candle in their honor.
Luckily, the local WEAU TV 13 news crew came to capture every special moment and then used this footage to put together an EXCEPTIONAL and inspirational video for the Borg family and for their TV audience. However, once this special segment aired it quickly began to strike a chord with all who saw it and was played on TV stations across Wisconsin and in Florida, Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Ohio, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Hawaii, Louisiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York! In addition, the story was published internationally by radio.com and yahoo.com/lifestyle.
