“My name is Kristi Newton and I am the new nurse for the Wausau memory care home. I started in the medical field as a caregiver about 20 years ago and have worked my way up. I have an Associate’s Degree from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau and I am currently enrolled at UW- Green Bay pursuing my Master’s degree. My end goal is to be a Family Nurse Practitioner with a Psychiatric Mental Health Board certification (PMHNP-BC). I have a very diverse background that includes psychiatry, mental health, geriatrics, long term care, rehabilitation, and educating. I am very fascinated by the brain and how the mind/brain works.
I was helping the Wausau home through PRN Healthcare and I really enjoy the team here. Everyone works very well together. The staff here are very patient, caring and compassionate. The environment is home-like; something I have never experienced in my career in healthcare. I am excited to be a part of an amazing team and look forward to making a difference for our residents and their families.
In my spare time, my kids and I have been ‘Discovering Wisconsin’. We enjoy camping at the State Parks, the lakes and beauty that Wisconsin has to offer. We have lots of pets- a puppy, Stella, Rosie the cat, Penelope the fish and Caramel and Chestnut are our pet rabbits.”
