Memory Care for Alzheimer's & Dementia in Verona

Azura Verona offers two dedicated memory care households serving residents across the Madison metro area and Dane County. Each household features 40 private suites with enhanced floor plan options, purpose-built for residents living with early-, mid-, and late-stage Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The two-household structure keeps daily life intimate and familiar, which matters enormously for people experiencing cognitive change.

Our care approach is grounded in the MOSAIC philosophy, a person-centered framework that honors each resident’s life story, preferences, and remaining strengths. Rather than slotting people into a rigid program, our team builds engagement around who each resident is and always has been.

Every team member supporting memory care residents at Verona completes more than 120 hours of dementia-specific education within their first 90 days, with ongoing training thereafter. The curriculum covers communication strategies, behavioral support, sensory engagement, nutrition and swallowing considerations in advanced dementia, and compassionate end-of-life care.

Caregiver-to-resident ratios are intentionally kept low so support stays consistent and unhurried; relationships have time to deepen. Daily programming weaves together music, art, reminiscence, gentle movement, and structured social connection, all designed to ease anxiety and bring meaning to each day.

The memory care households are fully secured, with monitored entrances and outdoor courtyards designed specifically for residents living with memory loss; safe wandering paths, sensory plantings, and shaded seating let residents enjoy fresh air and the changing seasons throughout the year.

Assisted Living at Our Verona, WI Community

Azura Verona’s two assisted living households are home to 40 private apartments each, designed for older adults who want to maintain their independence with thoughtful, personalized support. Residents receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, mobility, and personal care, while keeping the freedom to set their own schedule, host family, and continue doing what they love.

Life in assisted living includes chef-prepared meals served in the household dining room, a full calendar of social activities and outings, on-site amenities including spa and salon services, and around-the-clock team member support. The philosophy is simple: support where it’s needed, independence everywhere else.

Assisted living tends to be the right fit when an older adult needs help with one or two daily tasks, may struggle with cooking or housekeeping, or simply prefers not to live alone, but isn’t experiencing significant memory loss. Memory care is the better fit when a dementia diagnosis is affecting safety, judgment, or familiar tasks, or when wandering and disorientation have become concerns.

Because Verona’s memory care and assisted living households share one building, residents whose needs change over time can transition between care levels without leaving the community they know; familiar faces, friendships, and routines stay intact.

Verona Memory Care & Assisted Living Rates

Memory care rates at Azura Verona range from $8,580 to $12,636 per month, and assisted living rates range from $5,960 to $10,234 per month, based on the room or floor plan chosen and the level of care a resident needs. The all-inclusive monthly rate covers private accommodations, three chef-prepared meals daily plus snacks, housekeeping and laundry, utilities, the full activity calendar, 24-hour team member support, and personalized care services.

Two factors shape where a resident’s rate lands within those ranges:

  • Level of care. Residents who need minimal daily support pay less than those requiring extensive personal care, advanced memory care, or end-of-life support.
  • Room and floor plan choice. Private rooms and enhanced suites are priced accordingly.

For families weighing the cost, comparison matters. Around-the-clock private in-home care in the Madison area typically runs $20,000 or more per month, and that figure doesn’t include housing, meals, utilities, social engagement, or the specialized dementia programming and trained team that come standard at Azura.

A note on payment sources: Assisted living and memory care are primarily paid through private funds or long-term care insurance; Medicare and Medicaid alone don’t cover assisted living or memory care. Wisconsin does offer a few county-administered funding programs for financially qualified residents, with eligibility and available funds varying by Dane County program. We also support veterans and surviving spouses who qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance benefit. Our team is glad to walk through funding options, including reviewing your long-term care insurance policy, during your tour.

What Makes Azura Verona Different

Tucked into a quiet residential corner of Verona just southwest of Madison, Azura Verona offers Dane County families a rare combination: a single-building community where memory care and assisted living households live side by side, each with its own kitchen, dining room, and living spaces. The four-household design replaces the long-hallway model of larger facilities; it keeps daily life human-scaled, even with the capacity to serve up to 104 residents.

Every team member is grounded in our MOSAIC philosophy and supported by Azura’s nationally recognized education program; memory care team members complete 120+ hours of dementia training in the first 90 days. That depth of preparation is unusual in our industry, and families notice it in the small, daily interactions that make a community feel like home.

On-site clinical and therapy services

As care needs evolve, Azura Verona brings specialists directly to residents, so families don’t have to coordinate outside appointments and transportation. Through collaboration with home health and hospice providers and area physicians, residents have access to:

  • Physical, occupational, and speech/swallow therapy to support recovery, mobility, communication, and safe eating
  • On-site physician visits for routine and ongoing medical care
  • On-site dental and podiatry services
  • Wound care and skilled nursing support through our home health partners
  • End-of-life care through Azura Hospice, our own hospice service; residents can remain in the household they know, surrounded by the team and friends already part of their daily life

Lifestyle, comfort, and connection

Beyond clinical care, Verona offers private rooms and enhanced suite options, specialized spa and salon services, vibrant outdoor courtyards designed separately for memory care and assisted living, and engagement programming tailored to each household. Family events, music, intergenerational visits, and seasonal celebrations are part of the rhythm here. The result is a community where care is delivered expertly and the person stays at the center.

Frequently Asked Questions

Memory care is a specialized form of senior living for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, with secured settings, dementia-trained team members, and programming designed around cognitive change. Assisted living supports seniors who need help with daily activities like bathing and medication but don’t have significant memory loss.

No. Memory care and assisted living are primarily paid through private funds or long-term care insurance; Medicare and Medicaid alone don’t cover this level of care. Wisconsin offers a few county-administered programs for financially qualified residents through Dane County’s Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). Our team can also review your long-term care policy with you.

Azura Verona supports residents with all major dementias, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s-related dementia, and mixed dementia. Our two memory care households are equipped to care for residents from early memory loss through late-stage care, which usually means avoiding another move later.

Look for small household design rather than long hallways, transparent pricing, chef-prepared meals, on-site clinical and therapy access, and a clear philosophy around resident independence. Ask how the community handles a resident whose care needs grow over time; the strongest communities offer a path forward without requiring a move elsewhere.

Memory care is the right step when a dementia diagnosis is affecting safety, such as wandering, leaving appliances on, getting lost in familiar places, or significant judgment changes. Assisted living fits when help is mainly physical (bathing, dressing, medications) without major cognitive decline. A professional care assessment can confirm the level.

Yes. Azura Verona features vibrant outdoor courtyards designed specifically for each household type; secured courtyards for memory care residents with safe wandering paths and sensory plantings, and open courtyard space supporting independence for assisted living. Outdoor access matters every day in Wisconsin’s seasons.

Azura Verona is located at 285 Wildcat Way, Verona, WI 53593, just southwest of Madison and convenient to families across Dane County, including Madison, Fitchburg, Middleton, and Mount Horeb. The setting is quiet and residential, with easy access from US-18/151 and the Beltline.
