Gordon, one of Azura’s early memory loss class participants, had the opportunity to go on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight through the MOSAIC Dreams program with his class instructor, Marie. Gordon served in the Marines for 30 years – when he retired, he was a Master Sergeant. He served in World War II and the Korean War.
While in D.C., Gordon and Marie explored a number of memorials and monuments. When Gordon saw the Korean War memorial, he shared that he remembered walking the battlefield with his backpack, a poncho and a rifle.
On the way home, the Honor Flight presented Gordon with a mail call, and Gordon was able to read many hand written cards thanking him for his service.
