Wilma’s Book Dream

Wilma is one of our lovely residents at Azura Memory Care and Assisted Living of Fox Point. On February 21st, Wilma’s birthday, she presented her published book to the children in the after school program at St. Eugene school in Fox Point, WI. Wilma wrote and illustrated the book, Sneakers, before her dementia diagnosis and never had the book published. Thanks to Azura’s MOSAIC Dreams program, Wilma’s book was brought to life and presented to her as a surprise!

A prolific and imaginative writer, Wilma B. Boese specializes in books and stories for younger children and has penned dozens, often illustrating her own work. A native of Peoria, Illinois, Wilma excelled academically, graduating as high-school Valedictorian and serving as the school’s head cheerleader and yearbook editor. In addition to writing, she avidly pursued her skills at the piano as well as art, painting in watercolors and sculpting with clay. She is a life-long member of the American Association of University Women and served on many committees, especially those dedicated to children and literacy. She taught 4th grade in the 1970s, and has two children, Annie and Peter, for whom she both read and wrote.
