Azura Memory Care resident, Amos, had the opportunity to re-marry his wife of 54 years by a rabbi in a Synagogue like he has always wanted. Due to memory loss or not living under the same roof as his wife since moving into a memory care community, Amos didn’t feel like his wife and him are really married. Amos’s wife visits frequently and they enjoy taking naps together in his apartment at Azura of Fox Point. One day, Amos woke up from his nap to tell his wife that they had a lot of planning to do! Thus, the wedding planning began. When Amos was asked what his best day would be, he wanted to be married to his wife, Ann, by a Rabbi in a Synagogue due to his Jewish heritage. On June 10th, 1967, Amos and Ann Selzer were married while they were still in college by a traffic judge in Dane county, but never had the opportunity to have a Jewish ceremony. Now, thanks to Azura Memory Care’s MOSAIC Dreams program, Amos and Ann will be happily re-married in a Synagogue by a Rabbi. The ceremony will even be live streamed via Zoom so all of Amos’s friends and family in Israel can be a part of this special renewing of the vows. On Thursday, August 26th, Amos and Ann married at The Shalom Synagogue in Fox Point, WI at 11:00 in the morning. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Azura Assisted Living and Memory Care of Fox Point. Amos & Ann, along with the other residents at Azura enjoyed a special meal, wedding cake, and even a performance by a Klezmer band!
