Burnelle’s dream is to explore her Norwegian heritage by attending the Westby Syttende Mai Festival. Burnelle and her husband used to attend this festival almost every year, it was a family tradition. This festival is about 3 hours from where Burnelle currently lives but it’s only around the corner from where she grew up. She grew up on a 40 acre farm in Westby that has been in her family for over 132 years. Here great grandmother purchased the land when she immigrated from Norway and it has been passed down from one generation tot he next. The Westby Syttende Mai Festival is a Norwegian festival with music, food, crafts, and dancing.
